This Is What Climate Protection Looks Like

Tokyo by night is a sea of blinking, glittering lights that never go out—because signage aims to draw the viewer’s attention. Colored lights and displays convey their messages with a punch. Thanks to classic PLEXIGLAS® from Evonik Industries, the messages come across as clearly as before, but at lower operating cost and with active climate protection.

Full luminosity, less electricity

Especially in metropolises like Tokyo, signage is rapidly becoming more and more prevalent. But climate concerns and rising power prices are making it more crucial than ever to design luminous objects to be as energy efficient as possible. Evonik has an innovative solution: The use of PLEXIGLAS® gives the same luminosity with fewer light emitting diodes, reducing power consumption and protecting the climate.

For a "special" climate

Provision of more light over long periods is a property that distinguishes PLEXIGLAS® also in greenhouse construction. The plants flourish, almost as well as outdoors. Thanks to the good heat insulation offered by PLEXIGLAS®, the temperature remains at a constant level even during cold snaps, saving energy and heating costs and protecting the environment.

Transparency for the long term

Sunlight contains a significant proportion of hazardous UV radiation, which can cause dramatic changes in most plastics: they turn yellow or brown and lose their attractive appearance. But PLEXIGLAS® is unaffected by UV radiation. Using PLEXIGLAS® is thinking and acting sustainably, because the high-tech plastic is extremely weather resistant and therefore more durable than many of its competitors.

A good climate pays off

Saving energy and reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are essential for any cost efficient enterprise in these times of global warming. Whether in signage, greenhouses, or modern heat-shielding roof glazing for a better office climate, PLEXIGLAS® ensures minimal power consumption with reduced CO2 emissions. This is a product with a future.
