Inorganic Materials
The core competencies of Evonik Industries’ Inorganic Materials business unit are particle design, surface chemistry, and process technology for production of chlorosilanes and organosilanes. The business unit, with about 5,300 employees at 39 production sites worldwide, generated sales of about €1.9 billion in fiscal 2007.
With our products we supply the tire, rubber, and paints & coatings industries, and
producers of adhesives and sealants. Our products are also used in photovoltaics, foodstuffs and
animal feeds, and print media.
Our silicon-based product portfolio, the only one of its kind in the world, includes the
AEROSIL® fumed silicas and the precipitated specialty silica Sipernat® as well as pyrogenic
specialty oxides and chloro- and organofunctional silanes. Siridion® chlorosilanes form the base
for production of polycrystalline silicon, which in turn is the basic material for solar cell
production.
With it’s Inorganic Materials business unit Evonik also offers a wide spectrum of custom
designed products based on carbon black. Evonik is the only producer worldwide to offer the tire
and rubber industries carbon blacks, precipitated silicas, and silanes from a single source. Our
product groups occupy leading positions on the global market.
