Barra do Riacho, Brazil

Evonik Industries began its production of hydrogen peroxide in Barra do Riacho, Brazil, in 1997. We manufacture some 70,000 metric tons of this environmentally friendly bleaching agent for cellulose at the site each year—and do so using absolute state-of-the-art technology. Evonik will play an active role in the sector as cellulose production in the tri-border region of Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay is expected to grow in the coming years. Brazil is the world’s biggest producer of short-fiber cellulose for use in paper manufacturing, and thus is the most important end market for hydrogen peroxide. With an annual global capacity of around 600,000 metric tons, Evonik is the world’s second-largest producer of this eco-friendly bleaching and oxidation agent.

Products:

Hydrogen peroxide for bleaching in the cellulose sector (e.g., for making paper tissues).
