Chief Innovation Officer of Evonik
"A company that has ambitious organic growth targets needs to constantly focus on innovation."
The innovation culture of a company determines whether—and how fast—employees are able to drive forward good ideas and convert them into a profitable business. This is why we give our employees the freedom they need to stray from the beaten path. It is our belief that if a company wants to be a leader in innovation, it must also lead innovation. That means taking a constructive attitude to mistakes, but it also means having the strength to halt R&D projects if their prospects of success are too low. Evonik sees itself as an open and learning organization and has anchored this in its innovation management and executive development activities.
The Group-wide Leading Innovation initiative is a key element in our consolidation of Evonik’s innovative strength: It is our response to the challenging market environment and increasingly short product and innovation lifecycles, and paves the way for the future success of the Evonik Group. The repositioning of the strategic innovation unit Creavis is a first visible result of this initiative. With it, we enable Creavis to act faster and more flexibly.
Member of the Resource Efficiency Segment Management Board
"Innovation goes beyond research and development. It means translating ideas and new concepts into market and business success. The more areas of the organization are focused on innovation, the better it will work."
Member of the Nutrition & Care Segment Management Board
"Innovation is a key driver of Evonik's growth—globally and also in the Greater China Region. The Leading Innovation initiative addresses key issues like globalizing innovation to strengthen Evonik's regional activities in this field."
Head of the Animal Nutrition Business Line
"If you want to be innovative, you cannot limit yourself to further development of the existing. Being innovative means being prepared to look at things from a completely new perspective, explore unknown territory and initiate dialog with others on creative ways to shape the future. That's why I support the Leading Innovation initiative."
Head of Innovation Management of the Resource Efficiency Segment
"Creativity, courage and team spirit are key to successful innovation. So we need an innovation culture where employees have the courage to strike out in new directions and take the risks associated with that. The Leading Innovation initiative is an important building block for such a culture."
