Global Social Policy

Evonik’s Global Social Policy outlines its understanding of its social responsibility to its employees around the world. In this policy, Evonik undertakes to observe basic principles, based primarily on the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the core standards of the International Labor Organization. It defines mandatory social standards for the Evonik Group.

Other elements of the Global Social Policy include compliance with the law, mutual respect, equality of opportunity and a safe working environment.

The Global Social Policy imposes an obligation on all Evonik employees to observe the principles it contains and actively counter violations. Suppliers are expected to respect the Global Social Policy and integrate its principles into their own corporate policies.

Compliance with the Global Social Policy is monitored regularly within the Evonik Group.

Human rights

Evonik respects and supports the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and does not tolerate any behavior that violates these principles. It rejects all forms of forced and compulsory labor and does not permit child labor. Evonik defines child labor in keeping with the UN regulations or local legislation and regulations, whichever are more stringent.

Equality of treatment

Evonik treats all people with respect, regardless of their culture, gender, nationality and origin. The Group fosters equality of opportunity and equal treatment of all employees. They are the basis for its corporate success and their diverse knowledge, experience and individual attitudes and methods of working are essential for the company.
