Never at a loss for solutions
At our power plant in Turkey, for example, the bay was too shallow for large coal freighters to dock. Evonik engineers then commissioned the construction of a floating, coal-loading crane, which was towed 5,000 kilometers from the North Sea to the Mediterranean. Hard coal from large freighters can now be transferred to smaller barges that supply the power plant. The “transshipper”, as the vessel is known, is now a landmark on the open sea.
