Cure-to-Go for the floor

Industrial floors have to withstand a lot more than conventional floors. Especially, when

an industry floor coating has to be renewed or repaired, the ongoing operation of the business must be interrupted for two days. The new waterborne amine curing agent Anquamine® 728 for use in epoxy primers and topcoats on concrete substrates, allows applicators to get the job done quickly and efficiently in just one day.

Regardless the factory building, warehouse, car park or office suite – industrial floors have to withstand a lot more than conventional floors in your homes. Every day, “they” are on the job and are literally the “foundation” of all kind of businesses. Floors are used to anchor machinery for production, to safely dissipate electrical charges, to provide transport routes for forklifts, to store inventory high up, to park your car in park houses,
and many more types of use. They must resist heavy weights and traffic as well as high mechanical stress
and different chemicals. Moreover, industrial floors in special environments like hospitals, schools or
kindergartens have to meet not only functional but also aesthetic and safety standards: among others,
they have to be water and stain resistant, easy to clean, and prevent slippage with a pleasing appearance
at the same time.

In order to withstand these extreme stresses and to meet the different requirements, the use of high-quality flooring systems based on epoxy resins is an excellent choice. Especially, when an industry floor coating has to be renewed or repaired, the motto „time is money“ plays a central role. Normally, the first coating for the floor
system (“Primer”) needs 8-12 hours to dry at low temperature cure (10°C) before the topcoat can be
applied. As a result, the customer has to send the application team home after priming, only to come back the next day again to lay on the topcoat. In short, the ongoing operation of the business must be interrupted for two days and this is usually very costly.

Evonik Resource Efficiency accepted the challenge and has developed a product that meets customers’
needs for shorter downtime: The new waterborne amine curing agent Anquamine® 728 for use in epoxy primers and topcoats on concrete substrates, allows applicators to get the job done quickly and efficiently in just one day. In addition, the new product offers good compatibility with pigments for beautiful coloured finishes, high gloss and UV durability. Anquamine® 728 based coatings can be formulated without using solvents. What else could
you ask for?
