Lit.RUHR
Since its launch in 2016, lit.RUHR has developed into the major international literature festival in the Ruhr region in Germany. At the more than 60 events, people think and laugh. Well-known authors present their new works, newcomers are to be discovered, acting stars read texts of world literature in the context of theme evenings - sometimes grotesque, sometimes thoughtful, never the same.
In addition to the adult program, another focus is the children and youth program lit.kid.RUHR, where the authors of the hottest children's and youth books often come directly to the school classes as part of "Klasse-Buch" - a pleasure for both sides. This offer is free of charge for the schools.
As part of its socio-political and cultural commitment, Evonik Industries AG supports lit.RUHR, also out of the fundamental conviction that promoting reading skills is not only essential for professional life, but also a key to integration and social participation. Evonik is therefore a sponsor of the entire festival and presents in particular evenings that have a special social or historical relevance.
The festival takes place in October and focuses on the World Heritage Site Zeche Zollverein in Essen.
