Evonik is an Industry Partner of the World Economic Forum

Evonik Industries recently signed an Industry Partnership Agreement with the World Economic Forum for another year. The Forum is based in Geneva (Switzerland) and is an independent not-for-profit foundation established by Prof. Klaus Schwab in 1971. Today, it is a platform for discussion of the major economic, ecological and social issues facing society. The annual meeting of business leaders and representatives of governments and non-governmental organizations in Davos (Switzerland) attracts global attention.

The Forum also organizes regular meetings with a regional or industrial focus. “An Industry Partnership within the Forum gives Evonik the opportunity to discuss major issues facing the chemical industry and wider concerns such as climate protection, climate change and the efficient use of resources in a confidential setting,” explains Dr. Klaus Engel, Member of the Executive Board of Evonik Industries AG with responsibility for the Chemicals Business Area. “Through their focus on the megatrends energy efficiency and globalization, Evonik and the Forum complement each other perfectly.”

Membership of the various initiatives fosters discussion with other companies and established experts on issues of relevance to the corporate sector as a whole which are set to become even more significant in the future. Evonik is actively involved in two initiatives. The first is “Climate Change, Sustainability and Clean Energy”, which is currently discussing the key role that industry can play in shaping the post-Kyoto era. The other is “Collaborative Innovation”, which aims to show how collaboration between industries can effectively reduce greenhouse gases by driving innovation.
