New and updated literature on defoamers

The last two years have seen many changes in the defoamer literature of IM: Older brochures have been revised and new technical bulletins produced on topics of current interest. Four brochures have been available in English since the end of 2011:

  • TI 1313: SIPERNAT® and AEROSIL® for defoamer
    This brochure offers a broad overview of theoretical aspects of foam and defoamers, describes Evonik silica products that are particularly suitable for defoamer production, and introduces Evonik's products and services for technical customer support.
  • TI 1381: AEROSIL® and SIPERNAT®—efficient booster for defoamer in paints and coatings
    This brochure describes how AEROSIL® and SIPERNAT® effectively improve the performance of polyether siloxane based defoamer formulations in three different latex binder systems of water-based paints and coatings.
  • TI 1382: Comparison of SIPERNAT® D10 with in-situ hydrophobized fumed silica
    Hydrophobic silica can be produced "in situ" during the production process of an defoamer. This TI presents an experimental comparison between hydrophobic SIPERNAT® D10 and selected fumed silica grades that have been hydrophobized in situ.
  • TI 1391: Improving the sedimentation stability of SIPERNAT® D 10 in mineral oil based defoamer formulations
    This TI describes the results of systematic experiments for stabilizing oil-based defoamer formulations. These formulations contain SIPERNAT® D 10 and are further stabilized with selected hydrophilic or hydrophobic AEROSIL® grades.
