PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss NTA-5: Special molding compound for piano black applications at automotive front-and rear end

• Very high impact resistance combined with improved heat deflection temperature
• Especially suitable for front and rear automotive body parts

Darmstadt, Germany. The trend in the automotive industry towards black, high-gloss body components is continuing in the front and rear areas of vehicles. At these applications, the focus of the required material properties is on mechanical characteristics including resistance to weathering, scratch resistance, and color intensity.

PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss NTA-5 black 9V022 fulfills all of these requirements. Within our PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss product range it is the grade with the highest degree of impact resistance. Furthermore, the heat deflection temperature is at a higher level compared to other impact resistant PMMA molding compounds.

Because of this well-balanced property profile, PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss NTA-5 is especially suitable for the manufacturing of components like radiator grilles, air vents, and trim parts as well as mirror housings and pillar trims.

PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss molding compounds are successfully used in the automotive industry since a long period of time. Due to their specific properties, they can be used for the manufacturing of injection-molded, high-gloss components with molded-in color and in Class-A quality.

And since subsequent painting is not necessary, the production of these components is significantly less expensive compared to coated systems.

Components made from PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss NTA-5 black 9V022 also have the best possible color intensity and the excellent resistance to weathering guaranties this quality for the entire life of the vehicle.

But there’s more: small scratches on the high-gloss Class-A surface can be removed by polishing — many reasons why all the best-known OEMs have been using PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss molding compounds successfully for body components, especially pillar trims, for many years.

Evonik is a worldwide manufacturer of PMMA products sold under the PLEXIGLAS® trademark on the European, Asian, African and Australian continents and under the ACRYLITE® trademark in the Americas.
