Profiled roads

30 years ago a predecessor company of Evonik developed a profiled Degaroute® road marking, which remain clearly visible even in rain, moisture and darkness.

The decades ago, the Degussa AG, a predecessor company of Evonik, developed a new profiled road marking that remains clearly visible even in poor visibility caused by rain and moisture. The new aspect of this Degaroute® cold plastic marking was profiles that rise 2 to 10 millimeter above the otherwise even marking at regular intervals. This makes them easier to see in the dark in the car headlights, and the rolling noise alerts the driver’s attention to the fact that the car may have unintentionally veered into the wrong lane. The profiled road marking was showcased in spring 1988 at Intertraffic, an international trade fair for infrastructure and traffic management in Amsterdam.
