Scrum it up!

Evonik International Holding B.V. (EIHBV) and the Evonik Finance Function are taking the company’s dividend process to the next level. A cross-functional team is turning to the scrum method – and simultaneously expanding its know-how in the field of digitalization.

How can a process be digitalized and the digital expertise of the project team be increased at the same time? With scrum. Team members from Evonik Finance, Accounting, Taxes, EIHBV and IT are convinced of this. After all, they have gone through the process themselves – by developing “DiviPay,” an automated app. It minimizes the manual and administrative effort involved in the dividend process, and, effective immediately, it can be used throughout the group. Until now, it has been an extremely laborious process to check the potential for dividends at companies involved in the process and make a decision on dividend payments. Using the agile scrum method, the team not only produced an impressive result but it improved its mindset on agile digitalization projects. TI Garage and Evonik IT supported the project. Learn more about it in the video interview.

Scrum is a process model of agile project and product management. Within the scrum framework people can address complex adaptive problems, while productively and creatively delivering products of the highest possible value. It is a simple framework for effective team collaboration on complex products. The scrum team consists of a product owner, the development team (developers and stakeholders) and a scrum master. Scrum teams are self-organizing and cross-functional. Self-organizing teams choose how best to accomplish their work, rather than being directed by others outside the team. The team model in scrum is designed to optimize flexibility, creativity, and productivity.
