Responsibility
Social Responsible Investment (SRI)
We accept responsibility for our businesses, our employees, the environment and the society.
Evonik is convinced that sustainable and responsible business activities are vital for the future of the company. We therefore accept responsibility worldwide — for our business, our employees, society, and the environment.
The executive board bears overall responsibility for sustainability at Evonik and direct responsibility is assigned to the Chief Human Resources Officer. The Corporate Responsibility division sets the strategic framework for sustainability in the Group and coordinates group-wide implementation in close collaboration with other corporate functions and the operational segments.
Our sustainability strategy 2020+ gives answers to central challenges. It comprises, for example, ambitious new climate and water targets. By 2025 we aim to reduce our absolute GHG emissions by 50 percent compared to 2008 as reference base. In future, internal CO2 pricing will be an additional criterion in the management of major investments. Moreover, Evonik will integrate sustainability further into its strategic management processes.
In its portfolio, Evonik has defined four growth engines with a clear focus on sustainability. Today, Evonik generates already around half of its sales with products that make a measurable contribution to improving resource efficiency in the use phase. More than 80 percent of Group’s sales make a positive contribution to achieving the UN SDGs.
