SUSTAINABLE INVESTMENT (SRI)

Sustainability Ratings & Rankings

As a publicly listed company, Evonik is increasingly attracting the attention of financial investors and analysts who base their investment decisions on sustainability performance as well as financial parameters.

Alongside financial criteria, investors increasingly include ecological and social factors in their investment decisions. They are guided by leading sustainability indices such as the DJSI. Every year around 2,500 companies worldwide are invited to participate. In each sector the best of the participating companies are included in the DJSI. The assessment is performed by the Swiss rating agency RobecoSAM. 

Rating agencies operating in this field analyze and evaluate companies on the basis of how they handle economic, ecological and societal opportunities and risks. At present, Evonik is rated by the following organizations:

Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe

In 2019 Evonik is included again in the  Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe.

CDP Climate Change

Evonik received a grade of B from CDP for reporting relevant data on climate protection (CDP Climate Change). For its water reporting (CDP Water), it was also awarded a grade of B.

oekom

Evonik’s sustainability performance again received a  B – rating from ISS-oekom. The company therefore has Prime Status, the highest level awarded, ranking it among the top 10 percent of companies in the chemical sector.

Sustainalytics

Evonik’s sustainability performance was also evaluated by the independent rating agency Sustainalytics. Evonik is among the top 10 percent of the around 130 companies ranked in the chemical sector.

FTSE4Good Index

Evonik is a member of the FTSE4Good index. This index familiy of the London-based FTSE Group rates companies in categories such as environmental management, human and labor rights, health and safety, sustainbility in the supply chain, and corporate governance.

STOXX® Global ESG Leaders Index

Evonik is included in the STOXX Global ESG Leaders Index. This index, which was launched by Deutsche Börse among others, lists the best 25 percent of sustainable companies in the investment universe on transparency in environmental, social, and governance performance.

EURONEXT

In the Euronext index familiy, Evonik has gained a place in the Europe 120 as one of the strongest companies in Europe, based on an evaluation of its corporate responsibility performance. The Europe 120 index comprises leading companies from various sectors.

As a founding member of the Together for Sustainability
(TfS) initiative, Evonik drives forwards transparency and sustainability in the supply chain and is subject to annual assessments. Evonik received a gold rating for its sustainability performance from the rating agency EcoVadis, partner of TfS, for the sixth time in succession.
