Sustainability Reporting awarded with Building Public Trust Award

Evonik's sustainability reporting has been awarded the “Building Public Trust Award” as the best company in the MDAX by the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Excellent sustainablity reporting

The award recognizes the high quality of reporting, the transparency in sustainability and climate protection as well as the continuous optimization of reporting.

Evonik was selected by a renowned jury made up of independent experts from science and business.

In particular, the jury praised the presentation of impact valuation and the ambitious targets for emissions in the value chain.

Thomas Wessel, CHRO and alsoau responsible for sustainability, said: "We are continuously advancing our focus on sustainability and reporting on it. Our core concern is to provide our stakeholders with comprehensive information about our sustainability strategy and the implementation of our targets. This is the best way to create broad acceptance for our actions." CFO Ute Wolf adds: "The award confirms our approach to comprehensive, metric-based sustainability reporting and is an incentive to pursue this path consistently. The transparent and comprehensible communication of our activities is not always easy, but it pays off in terms of the perception and evaluation of our company."

The jury's evaluation was based on all publicly available information related to climate protection and sustainability. In addition to the financial and sustainability reports, press releases and other digital publications were also evaluated. Participation in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change makes a significant contribution to transparency in climate reporting. Evonik has been involved in this initiative since 2012 and publishes strategies, data and development paths on climate change. According to the jury, the specialty chemicals company scores particularly well with a transparent presentation of impact valuation and the ambitious targets around emissions along the entire value chain.

PwC has been awarding the Building Public Trust Award since 2016 to encourage companies to rely on integrated reporting that includes sustainability and social responsibility. This year, Evonik will receive the award for the second time after 2017.

PwC is currently appointed as an auditor for the audit of the consolidated financial statements as well as the sustainability report of the specialty chemicals company.
